WARNING
Front tires must be chocked and brakes released or caged. Failure to comply may
result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of
an injury.
Semitrailer must be supported at front and rear to prevent shifting. All weight must
be taken off the suspension components. Failure to comply may result in death or
injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of an injury.
CAUTION
Replacement of torque rod bushings may be accomplished without the use of a
press or special tools. Hand check torque rods for free play at the ends to
determine the need for replacement. Do not use a pry bar or lever to check for free
play. Failure to comply may result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment
or mission.
Work on only one torque rod at a time in order to avoid possible altering of axle
alignment. In addition, by completely removing and refitting only one torque rod at
a time, the chance of torque rod mix-up (which could lead to re-alignment of the
suspension or loss of axle planing angle and consequent axle damage) will be
eliminated. Prior to removal, mark one end of torque rod relative to installation
location and orientation to avoid possibly reversing torque rod during reinstallation.
Failure to comply may result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or mission.
NOTE
There are 12 torque rods on semitrailer, this procedure replaces one torque rod. All other
torque rods are replaced the same.
