INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Never use any mineral-based oils, greases, jellies, or solvent soaps as a lubricant. Failure
to comply may result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or mission.
1.
Lubricate inside diameter of torque rod eye (Figure 3, Item 6) and outside diameter of replacement rubber
bushing (Figure 3, Item 5) with a quality rubber lubricant.
2.
Support end of torque rod (Figure 3, Item 3) with torque rod eye (Figure 3, Item 6) facing up and evenly
place new rubber bushing (Figure 3, Item 5) onto torque rod eye so that outside tapered end of bushing just
enters eye. Using a soft-faced tool, drive bushing (Figure 3, Item 5) into torque rod eye (Figure 3, Item 6).
Bushing should be evenly positioned front and back within torque rod eye (Figure 3, Item 6).
3.
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for second bushing.
4.
Lubricate spigot ends and inside diameter of bushing and install torque rod (Figure 3, Item 3) as originally
installed onto spigots (Figure 3, Item 4).
WARNING
Use only approved bolts and nuts for the torque rod to joint fasteners. Do not re-use or use
other fasteners. Doing so may lead to fastener failure and consequent loss of vehicle
control. Failure to comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention
in the event of an injury.
5.
Secure torque rod (Figure 3, Item 3) in position with spigot caps (Figure 3, Item 1) and two new bolts
(Figure 3, Item 2) and new self-locking nuts (Figure 3, Item 7). Torque self-locking nuts to
