INSTALLATION
WARNING
The axle weight is approximately 275 lb (124.73 kg). Use extreme caution when handling
the axle. Failure to comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical
attention in the event of an injury.
1.
Place axle on suitable lifting device and position under semitrailer aligned with rear rubber springs.
WARNING
Use only approved bolts and nuts for the torque rod to joint fasteners. Do not re-use or use
other fasteners. Doing so may lead to fastener failure and consequent loss of vehicle
control. Failure to comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention
in the event of an injury.
2.
Raise axle and connect rebound chains (Figure 3, Item 3) to equalizing beams (Figure 3, Item 4) with two
bolts (Figure 3, Item 1) and new self-locking nuts (Figure 3, Item 2). Torque self-locking nuts to 175 lb ft
(237 Nm).
3.
Connect torque rods (Figure 4, Item 3) to spigots (Figure 4, Item 4) on torque rod axle brackets, semitrailer
suspension towers, and hanger frames.
4.
If previously removed, replace tower metal plug caps.
5.
Secure torque rods (Figure 4, Item 3) in position with spigot caps (Figure 4, Item 1), eight bolts
(Figure 4, Item 2), and new self-locking nuts (Figure 4, Item 5).
