GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
The air brake system is operated with less than 100 psi (690 kPa). Personnel must take
precautions to maintain adequate air pressure so brakes will function properly. Failure to
comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of
an injury.
1.
The following work packages cover procedures for testing, removal, and installation of braking system
components. These also cover cleaning, inspection, and repair of air lines.
2.
The service brakes are straight air anti-lock type with automatic break-away protection. When the semitrailer
brake system is properly connected to the service brake system of the towing vehicle, the towing vehicle
brake pedal operates the brakes on both vehicles.
