REMOVAL - Continued
WARNING
Each lift cylinder weighs 350 lb (158.75 kg). A lifting device rated at a minimum of 500 lb
(226 kg) and an assistant may be needed to perform this task. Both lift cylinders must be
supported. Failure to comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical
attention in the event of an injury.
3.
Using a suitable lifting device, secure a chain around the upper portion of lift cylinder (Figure 2, Item 2) and
draw up on hoist to remove slack.
4.
Remove bolt and nut securing outer end of upper lift cylinder pin (Figure 2, Item 1) and remove washer from
end pin.
NOTE
As cylinder pin is driven out, maintain sufficient tension on suitable lifting device supporting
upper portion of lift cylinder so that cylinder does not suddenly shift as pin is removed.
5.
Drive upper lift cylinder pin (Figure 2, Item 1) out from hangers through access hole in gooseneck wall to
free upper portion of lift cylinder.
CAUTION
Do not use a chain to restrain movement of piston as a chain may score or damage piston
surface. Failure to comply may result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment
or mission.
6.
Secure piston of lift cylinder (Figure 2, Item 2) to restrain movement of lower portion of cylinder when lower
pin (Figure 2, Item 3) is removed.
7.
Remove bolt and nut securing lower lift cylinder pin (Figure 2, Item 3), drive out pin, and raise suitable lifting
device to remove lift cylinders (Figure 2, Item 2).
8.
Repeat for other lift cylinder.
