CONNECTING GOOSENECK TO SEMITRAILER
Connecting the gooseneck to the semitrailer must be conducted with the gooseneck coupled to the towing vehicle
and the semitrailer lowered to ground level or resting evenly on wood blocks.
WARNING
All personnel not involved in the coupling/uncoupling operation must stand clear of
towing vehicle and semitrailer to prevent serious injury to personnel. Failure to
comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the
event of an injury.
Never stand between gooseneck and semitrailer when towing vehicle is being
backed up to semitrailer. Failure to comply may result in death or injury to
personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of an injury.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to the equipment, the procedure to connect the gooseneck should be
performed by an operator working in cooperation with a ground observer. Failure to comply
may result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or mission.

Line up towing vehicle with semitrailer and note whether holes in lifting lugs (Figure 12, Item 5) on bottom of
gooseneck base align and are centered with lifting pins (Figure 12, Item 4) on front of semitrailer. Center lug
(Figure 12, Item 1) on bottom of gooseneck base should also be aligned with receiver "V" slot
(Figure 12, Item 2) of semitrailer deck.
NOTE
If the handle is hard to pull, lubricate zerks (WP 0093).

Unlatch gooseneck base travel lock by pulling base slide bar handle (Figure 12, Item 3) fully out until end
clears bar recess hole and rotate bar handle counterclockwise to lock in released positioned.
