Connect negative (-) probe of multimeter to known good ground.

Multimeter should display a reading between 22 and 28 vdc. Note reading.

If voltage reading is not between 22 and 28 vdc, set PTO ENGAGE switch to OFF position. (WP 0015)
12.
If voltage reading is not between 22 and 28 vdc, shut OFF engine (refer to TM 9-2320-279-10).

DECISION
No - Repair red wire or replace heavy-duty winch remote control unit. (WP 0047)Test 20 - Does winch operate
