COUPLING GOOSENECK TO TOWING VEHICLE AND RAISING SEMITRAILER
WARNING
The semitrailer should ALWAYS have the wheels chocked, with or without a load,
during coupling or uncoupling to towing vehicle and when parked. Failure to
comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the
event of an injury.
Never stand between the towing vehicle and the semitrailer when the towing
vehicle is being backed up to the semitrailer. Failure to comply may result in death
or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of an injury.
All personnel not involved in coupling/uncoupling operation must stand clear of
towing vehicle and semitrailer to prevent serious injury to personnel. Failure to
comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the
event of an injury.
To prevent injury or death to personnel or damage to the equipment, coupling
should be done by two people, the first person in the towing vehicle cab and the
second acting as a ground guide. Operator must know where ground guide is at all
times. Failure to comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical
attention in the event of an injury.
Place the towing vehicle Power Take-Off (PTO) switch in low idle position for
hydraulic operations to avoid pressurizing the hydraulics system on the semitrailer.
Failure to comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention
in the event of an injury.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to the semitrailer and the towing vehicle, do not connect the hydraulic
lines to a towing vehicle that does not use the approved military lubricants. Failure to
comply may result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or mission.
NOTE
Coupling operations must be conducted with the gooseneck attached to the semitrailer.
1.
Line up towing vehicle with semitrailer and note whether height of the gooseneck kingpin is sufficient to
