Checking Axle Alignment.
NOTE
For proper tracking and reduced tire wear, the axles must be properly aligned
in relation to the kingpin. Prior to alignment, make certain the suspension is
free and loose and the axles have not been placed in a binding condition due
to sharp turns or unusual maneuvers. Axles can be relaxed (neutralized) by
simply moving the trailer back and forth in a straight line or raising the axle(s)
off the ground to allow them to straighten out. Alignment can be accomplished
with an optical device designed for this purpose, or it can be accomplished
manually by use of a tram gauge or steel tape measure.
