REMOVAL
1.
Grasp sensor (Figure 1, Item 4) (not sensor cable (Figure 1, Item 2)), and using a twisting motion, pull
sensor out of mounting block sensor holder (Figure 1, Item 6).
2.
Remove spring clip (Figure 1, Item 5) from sensor holder (Figure 1, Item 6).
3.
Remove any tiedown straps (Figure 1, Item 10) holding sensor cable to other components. Discard tiedown
straps (Figure 1, Item 10).
4.
Disconnect sensor cable (Figure 1, Item 2) from extension cable.
END OF TASK
INSTALLATION
1.
Apply grease that contains molydisulfide to sensor spring clip (Figure 1, Item 5) and to body of sensor
(Figure 1, Item 4). Grease must be anti-corrosive and contain adhesive properties that will continuously
endure temperatures from -40 to 302 F (-40 to 150 C).
2.
Push spring clip (Figure 1, Item 5) into sensor holder (Figure 1, Item 6) from inboard side until spring clip
tabs (Figure 1, Item 7) are against sensor holder.
3.
Push sensor (Figure 1, Item 4) into spring clip (Figure 1, Item 5) as far as possible.
4.
Route sensor cable (Figure 1, Item 2) toward brake chamber, over brake spider (Figure 1, Item 9), and
behind axle.
5.
Use a new tiedown strap (Figure 1, Item 10) to secure cable to axle between brake spider (Figure 1, Item 9)
and suspension brackets.
6.
Place tiedown straps 1 in. (25.4 mm) from molded sensor plug (Figure 1, Item 1).
7.
Continue to route sensor cable (Figure 1, Item 2) behind spring seats.
8.
Install wheel hub (Figure 1, Item 3) carefully, so that tooth wheel (Figure 1, Item 8) pushes against sensor
(Figure 1, Item 4) as you adjust wheel bearings.
9.
After installation there should be no gap between sensor (Figure 1, Item 4) and tooth wheel
(Figure 1, Item 8).
10.
During normal operation, a gap of 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) is allowable.
END OF TASK
SENSOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE TEST
1.
Use a multimeter to check ac output voltage of sensors while rotating wheel at approximately one-half
revolution per second.
2.
Minimum output must be greater than 0.2 V ac.
3.
If minimum output is less than 0.2 V ac, push sensor (Figure 1, Item 4) toward tooth wheel
(Figure 1, Item 8).
4.
Repeat sensor output voltage test.
