Dry nitrogen gas is recommended for purging. A pressure regulator is required to regulate
between 0 to 200 psi. Commercial cylinders of nitrogen contain pressures in excess of 2000
psi (13,780 kPa); this pressure must be reduced to 200 psi (1378 kPa) for purging.
1.
RECOVER THE SYSTEM REFRIGERANT.
2.
DISCONNECT BOTH ENDS OF THE LINE OR PART BEING PURGED. TIGHTLY CAP THE REST
OF THE SYSTEM.
3.
MAKE SURE VALVES 1,2, AND 3 ARE CLOSED.
