STEP/SEQUENCE

Check for Short to
Ignition
l Turn ignition off.
l Disconnect&way
powerconnector.
l Installajumperwirebetween socket
F on the 6-way power connector
and socket 63 on the vehicle
harness connector.
l Installa 2nd jumper wire between
socket C on the 6-way power
connectorand the followingsocket
on the vehicle harness connector:
if CEL didnt turn on =>
socket B1
if SEL didnt turn on =>
socket B2
l Observe associated light.

Check it Lights Agree
with DDR Display
l Plug in DDR and select MODE 30,
MISC OUTPUTS, for display.
l observe if DDR display agrees
with the CEL, SEL (and CAL if
applicable).

Check for Short to
Ground
l Unplug DDR.
l Turn ignition off.
l Disconnect vehicle harness
connector at the ECM.
l Turnignition on.
l Observe thefollowing lights:
Check Engine
Stop Engine

RESULT
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Associated light
Remove jumpers. Check 5 amp
now turns on.
ignition (circuit breakers) fuse.
Check wires #2 and #3 for
open. Check ignition switch
for proper operation.
Contact Direct Support.
Associated light
still does not turn on.
Remove jumper. An open may
exist on the circuit which did not
light. If none turned on, check
ckt #439 for open. Repair open,
then go to 31-30. Else, a short
to ignition may exist in the circuit
tested, either the CEL (#419), or
SEL (#509). Contact Direct
support.
DDR display
Go to 31-7.
agrees with lights.
DDR display does
Go to 31-6.
not agree with lights.
All lights stay off.
Turnignition off. Then go to 31-9.
At least one
light stays on.
A short to ground exists in the
circuit associated with the light
that stayed on, either the CEL
(#419), or SEL (#509).
