Inspect mating surfaces for:
a. Scoring.
b. Gouging.
c. Excess or uneven wear.
Inspect for:
a. Damaged ball end seal.
b. Damaged threads.
Install at either end of drag
link.
a. Place one end in steering
arm (1).
b. Place the other end in
pitman arm (7).
Screw on and tighten to 120
Ib-ft (163 Nm) with
torque wrench.
Insert cotter pins (2)
and (5) with pliers
and bend ends over.
Grease with GAA until
grease is visible at either
end connection.
Replace if necessary,
If connections are damaged,
troubleshoot steering system
(para 10-5).
Replace as necessary.
It may be necessary to
tighten castle nuts (3) and
(6) further in order to
aline slots with hole.
Use grease gun.
Start up (see TM 9-2320-273-10).
Check to see that wheels turn
freely.
Shut down (see TM 9-2320-273-10).
