CAGING BRAKES - Continued
10.
When spring is fully compressed and brakes are released, threaded portion of caging bolt
(Figure 23, Item 1) should extend 2.5 in. (6.35 cm) to 3 in. (7.62 cm) beyond nut (Figure 23, Item 3).
11.
Brakes should remain caged until proper maintenance personnel can inspect the brake system.
12.
Repeat procedures as necessary for remaining wheel positions.
13.
To uncage brakes, release nut (Figure 23, Item 3) on caging bolt (Figure 23, Item 1), return caging bolt,
washer (Figure 23, Item 2), and nut (Figure 23, Item 3) to original location on side of spring brake chamber
(Figure 23, Item 4), and close dust cover (Figure 23, Item 5).
