5-10. ENGINE RETARDER CONTROLS.
a. Description. The engine retarder solenoid valves are applied by the foot switch as selected
by the three-position ENGINE RETARDER switch (fig. 5-27). The operator must let up on the foot
throttle to close the throttle position sensing switch.
b. Troubleshooting the Engine Retarder Control. Perform the steps in table 5-4 to isolate
faulty components of the engine retarder circuit.
