COUPLING GOOSENECK TO TOWING VEHICLE AND RAISING SEMITRAILER - Continued
CAUTION
On towing vehicles equipped with a fifth wheel lockout device, ensure that the lockout is
disengaged before traveling off-road. Failure to comply may result in damage to, or
destruction of, equipment or mission.

Unlock fifth wheel by pulling secondary lock handle (Figure 6, Item 2) out and lifting up on handle until it
locks in place. Then pull primary lock handle (Figure 6, Item 1) out and lift up until it locks in place.

Slowly back towing vehicle under semitrailer, allowing semitrailer to slide up approach ramps to fifth wheel
plate until kingpin engages and locks in place.
NOTE
Ensure 12/24-volt electrical cable (Figure 7, Item 1) is connected between semitrailer
and gooseneck.
7.
Connect 12-volt (Figure 7, Item 9) or 24-volt (Figure 7, Item 10) electrical cables from towing vehicle to
gooseneck electrical connectors.
NOTE
Ensure air lines (Figure 7, Item 2 and 4) are connected between semitrailer
and gooseneck.
8.
Connect blue service and red emergency air lines from towing vehicle to respective gooseneck blue
(Figure 7, Item 8) and red (Figure 7, Item 7) gladhands.
CAUTION
Rotate female hydraulic connector 90 degrees after connecting to gooseneck to avoid
possible damage during transport. Failure to comply may result in damage to, or
destruction of, equipment or mission.
9.
Remove hydraulic return line connector dust cover and wipe connector clean. Connect hydraulic return line
from towing vehicle to gooseneck hydraulic return connector (Figure 7, Item 6).
10.
Remove hydraulic inlet line connector dust cover and wipe connector clean. Connect hydraulic inlet line
from towing vehicle to gooseneck hydraulic inlet connector (Figure 7, Item 5).
